Lochearnhead was Hertfordshire Scouts first activity centre and is a converted railway station located some 30 miles north of Stirling in Scotland. The original station buildings house the kitchen, dining room, office etc with modern log cabins in the grounds providing the sleeping accomdation. The station is close to the shores of Loch Earn which is used for sailing and other water activities and within 5 miles there are 120 hills over 2000ft including 60 good mountains which can provide for a gentle introduction to hill walking or a real challenge to the more experienced.
The station is used every Easter and New Year for mountaineering courses which are open to Explorers, Network and adults (details of these can be found on the Hertfordshire Scouts website) and every summer districts from around the county use the station for summer expeditions.
